BALI TEAK WOOD
A tropical hardwood species, Teak (Tectona grandis), belongs to the Lamiaceae family from Indonesia, which can grow over 130 feet tall.
The wood naturally has a high oil content that makes it the gold standard for resistance to moisture, harsh chemicals, rot, decay, and warping. Considered one of the most valuable timbers for good reason, it's exceptional in quality with strong characteristics like incredible durability and nontoxicity.
We have partnered with local artisans in Bali whose trade of wood carving has been passed down for generations. Each piece made of teak wood is unique in shape and grain lines. Finished with natural oil, their wood darkens over time and you'll have a piece to cherish for many years to come.
While teak is naturally dense making it a great food bowl, you will still need to make sure to only hand-wash in warm water with a gentle soap then wipe with a tea towel to dry completely, do not air dry. Clean after each use so that mildew build up and fading does not occur.
Freshen up with food-grade mineral oil or beeswax wood conditioner monthly or if wood looks is dull or dry.
Wood Bowl Care Tips:
✢ Never soak wood bowls in water or let water stand inside of them.
✢ Do not leave your wood bowl in the fridge full of moist food.
✢ Do not clean your wood bowl in the dishwasher.
✢ Do not microwave your wood bowl or put it in a conventional oven.
✢ Do not leave your wood bowl in the direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
✢ Store in area with good circulation, not too close to oven or heaters.
✢ We recommended that you do not use vegetable, olive, or coconut oil to season your wood bowl because these oils have a limited shelf life and over time can go rancid and leave the wood tacky.
